One paper, once. Nothing is metered per child, per class or per subject, a long worksheet doesn't cost more than a short one, and a paper read a second time — filed under an assignment, or read again after a bad photograph — is not counted twice.
A page that couldn't be read isn't charged for at all. It wasn't graded, so it isn't usage.
When billing starts
You'll be asked for a card before anything is taken. The first 50 papers free — counted from the day you're asked rather than the day you signed up, so nobody loses the allowance to the wait, and papers rather than days is what the software actually meters. Stop at any point and keep every export you've downloaded.
If you leave
Deleting your account deletes the photographs and the scores with them. Export first if you want the record.
